Deborah Davis DeWitt, M.B.A

President/CEO, Treasurer

Deborah Davis-DeWitt created The Eric and Deborah D. DeWitt VGJazz Foundation with the vision and drive to support pancreatic cancer awareness, early detection, testing and early childhood music education everything she and her late husband, Eric K. DeWitt, have had and what she continues to have passion and focus.

Deborah has a 30+ year career in Information Technology with roles spanning from Network Engineer, Software Development Management and Technical Program Management.  She has recently been published regarding her focus  on Diversity and Inclusion and how companies can better provide opportunities for women in technology.

 

Mrs. DeWitt is a member of multiple technology organizations, such as WIT USA (Women in Tech), Women Who Code, International Women in Technology, and  AnitaB. She was bestowed with  the Women Who Code Leadership Award for technical leadership and mentorship. 

 

Mrs. DeWitt graduated from Dowling College with a BS in Computer Science and an MBA focusing on Organizational Behavior Management. She has been active in pancreatic cancer awareness since 2021.

Leslie K. Connor

Vice-President

Leslie Connor has 20+ years of experience as a results-oriented IT operations professional, offering creative management experience and leading key growth initiatives within the industry.

 

She is known as an expert in delivering innovative, reliable, cost-saving solutions and strategies that streamline processes and drive business growth in a dynamic environment. Committed, analytical, and hands-on with a proven track record reflecting proactive leadership experience that

builds and leads productive teams.

 

Ms Connor is highly praised for work ethic, problem-solving, and communication skills. A United States Army Veteran and published author in  “WORKFORCE DIVERSITY” MAGAZINE  '2011

Louise Bolden

Secretary

Seasoned Telecommunications Management and Non-Profit Professional with over 30 years of telecom business experience directing, documenting and developing full spectrum of programs through proven expertise and competencies.

Ms. Bolden's has over 15 years of  experience in Non-Profit Community Development that include overseeing  day-to-day operation of various organizational programs, financial counseling, and grant writing. 

Ms. Bolden has been able to write grant that resulted in a

20% increase in fundraising


She developed and established organization’s by-laws for the Board of Directors and Officers of the organization.  She acted as the 

accountant to finalizing and gather information for Internal Revenue Services to obtain organization’s 501©3 status. She work closely with the President and CEO of organization to make sure that all programs were

working properly and in order.


Her years of expertise provide The Eric and Deborah D DeWitt VGJazz Foundation with the needed expertise for growth.

Dr. Michele Flynch, Ph.D., RN

Program and Projects Chairperson

Michele Flynch, Ph.D., RN, is a skilled intensive care nurse, nurse scientist, and educator and leader. She currently holds the position of

Director of Generic Bachelor of Science Program

at Helene Fuld College of Nursing.

Before joining Helene Fuld College of Nursing in 2021,

she was the Director of Nursing at Liberty Endoscopy Center.

Dr. Flynch received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Long Island University, a Master of Arts in Nursing Administration from Teacher's College Columbia University, and a Ph.D. in Nursing at Pace University, Lienhard School of Nursing, College of Health Professions.

Dr. Flynch's doctoral research explores family members' experiences following physical restraint intervention on loved ones in critical care settings. Dr. Flynch also has a keen interest in global health and alternative medicine.

She is an active member of the American Nurses Association, American Association of Critical Care Nurses, and Sigma Honor Society of Nursing. She is a past Jonas Nurse Leader Scholar (2016-2018).

Dr. Flynch co-authored an article published in BioMed Central (BMC) Women's Health. Her research focused on health behaviors and practices in Ghana and how differences may influence them in culture and geography.

Sharon Brooks

The Outreach and Funding Chairperson

Ms. Brooks spent 8 yrs as a former Emory University Medical Coder and Medical Billing Specialist. Working as a Medical Coder afforded Ms Brooks the ability to become proficient in patient chart analysis and to identify missing and/or incorrect data codes and modifiers,

that impacted billing for doctors and patients.


Ms. Brooks is passionate about the arts, traveling and  epicurean experiences.  Being passionate for the arts has motivated Ms. Brooks to become a freelance visual artist which became very freeing and therapeutic. Another passion for Ms. Brooks is traveling. In the past two yrs. Ms. Brooks has been able to experience:  Amsterdam, Spain, The South of France and Italy. There is something so rewarding to experience the culture, art, beauty 

and most of all the food of other countries.

All of Ms. Brooks' passions have continued to help her heal form her  brother's, Eric DeWitt's passing from stage four pancreatic cancer on September 5th, 2021.


Ms. Brooks is honored and privilege to contribute to continue Eric DeWitt's  legacy in serving on the Board of Directors of the

Eric & Deborah D. DeWitt VGJazz Foundation.  Ms. Brooks is looking forward to serving with excellence in achieving the goals of supporting organizations focusing on early detection and testing of pancreatic cancer, along with supporting music education programs for children.

Vivalyn Elvy, M.B.A

Marketing and Communication Chairperson

For over 25 years, Ms. Elvy's passion has been in assisting leaders in the profit and non-profit industry; bringing their dreams and visions into reality.  She has partnered with leaders to process and execute their vision in the following areas: project development, strategic planning, and implementation; training, marketing, and management solution that drive ideas to action. Ms. Elvy has optimized performances, increase profits, increased volunteer retention, and built resourceful teams with diverse competencies.

Her expertise is also synergized with her passion for community enhancement and seeing individuals discover and walk in their authentic truth while fulfilling their purpose.  As the author of the book, “Who Am I?”  Ms. Elvy takes her readers on her personal journey of discovery, where they can truly see her heart of love for people and their successes. 

Vivalyn Elvy holds an MBA from Dowling College and has honed her business acumen as a Vice President of Operations for a northeast-based electronic company and a Government Regulatory Analysis.
